Tell us a bit more about yourself

My name is Nina, I'm 36 years old, and I live in Bemmel with my husband and our two children. After completing high school, I pursued a degree in law at the university of applied sciences, eventually specializing in labor law. At a young age, I was still figuring out what I wanted to do, so I chose a broad field of study to keep my options open for my first job.

Soon, I discovered a strong interest in HR and decided to focus my studies in that direction. In practice, however, I found that a purely legal role didn't entirely suit me. I came across applied psychology during my studies and decided to pursue it. While studying, I had the opportunity to work as an intercedent at Randstad. I obtained my P certificate and eagerly embraced Randstad's offer to further develop myself. Eventually, a Junior HR position opened up at Douglas, exactly what I was looking for. Over time, I progressed within the company to become an HR advisor, learning a lot on the job.

Why Orange Juice?

I had been working at my previous employer for several years. Despite enjoying my time there and feeling settled, I was curious about something new. I'm always open to learning new things. I happened upon the HR advisor/coach position at Orange Juice on LinkedIn. I was very interested in this role, but I still had many questions. I called immediately and had a great conversation with Remco, who explained the role's versatility and challenges well. Throughout the application process, I had conversations with other employees at the company. It was nice that many employees were open to meeting beforehand.

Orange Juice is a commercial and dynamic environment, which suits me perfectly. I have experience working in the commercial sector and can somewhat relate to what the company does. I truly value people, and the fact that the company wants to focus on its employees says a lot about the organization. That immediately appealed to me about Orange Juice.

This position is quite different from what I'm used to. At Orange Juice, we work in a smaller team, which requires a different approach. Additionally, I'll be working solo as an HR advisor/coach, allowing me to rediscover how I want to shape certain aspects of the role.

What will you be doing at Orange Juice?

At Orange Juice, I'll be working as an HR advisor/coach. It's a highly versatile role, where I'll be involved in all aspects of HR. The company emphasizes attention to the team, which is also the focus of my role. It's about investigating what each person needs because everyone's needs are different. I'll also focus on overall development within the company, team development, and coaching. This includes identifying what works well and what could be improved. HR and labor are evolving fields, so I need to stay updated on new developments, such as legislation changes.

My role is truly about feeling. It's important to create a culture where everyone feels comfortable coming to me. Creating connections and happiness in this role is essential and manifests in various ways. Recruitment and selection are also crucial, and I'll be structuring the current situation. Internal communication, connecting people, and organizing make it a wonderfully varied role.

What are you extremely good at?

As I mentioned earlier, I'm very much a people person. I'm always genuinely interested in people and their stories. I find it fascinating to figure out what makes people tick and what will help them thrive. I'm someone who can put others at ease. I'm a hub in the wheel, which aligns well with the HR advisor/coach role at Orange Juice.

What makes you happy?

As a true people person, I love it when there's a human atmosphere within a company. This is also what appeals to me about Orange Juice. Everyone makes mistakes, and that's how you learn. I'm happy when there's room to learn, where it's okay to make mistakes without immediate consequences.

Apart from work, I love dancing! Every once in a while, I have to go out dancing. I enjoy going to festivals and parties. From my busy social life and activities like zumba, yoga, and outdoor sports, I derive a lot of satisfaction. I'm a real busy bee! Due to my curiosity, I'm interested in the rest of the world and different cultures; traveling is a big passion of mine that brings me a lot of happiness.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I hope to still be working at Orange Juice. I'm very loyal to employers, and once I commit to something, I fully immerse myself in it. I hope that by then, we'll have a solid foundation in terms of overall development and connection and can build on that.
